12-14 September: Workshop on Vulnerability Assessment of Freshwater Resources in South and Southeast Asia

The Water Engineering and Management Field of Study, School of Engineering and Technology and the United Nations Environment Programme will jointly organize a Review Workshop on Vulnerability Assessment of Freshwater Resources in South and Southeast Asia.

Yoga classes will be held every Wednesday, starting Wednesday 12 September, at the Language Center, Room 236, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

The type of yoga featured is called Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. It consists of exercises or postures (asanas) with specialized breathing (pranayama), hand and finger gestures (mudras), body locks (bhandas), chanting (mantras) and meditations, together or in sequence to create exact, specific effects.

Collaboration with Swedish organizations and institutes possible, says PresidentPresident’s Sweden Itinerary: Swedish Agency for Innovation Systems (Vinnova), Sida, Swedish Defense Research Agency (FOI), Chalmers University, University College of Borås Safely home from his recent trip to Sweden from 15-22 August, President Irandoust reported this week that his many and varied discussions as part of the formal visit could lead to possible AIT collaboration with some of Sweden’s foremost organizations and academic institutes.

28-30 August: Forum and Hands-on Training on SAP2000 and ETABS

The Asian Center for Engineering Computations and Software (ACECOMS) is organizing a "Forum and Hands-on Training on SAP2000 and ETABS" from 28 to 30 August 2007 at AIT. (For further details, please visit the ACECOMS website)

 

This is the first time that such as event is being organized in which the engineers who use this software can share their experiences as well as get direct advice and solutions on their analyses and design projects.

Siam Cement Group, Thailand, agrees to sign MoU with AIT

The Management Committee of Siam Cement Group (SCG) has agreed to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AIT, which was a result of visit to SCG Head Office and meeting with senior officials, on 13 July 2007, by Professor Vilas Wuwongse, Vice President for External Relations, and Dr. Pritam K. Shrestha, Head, External Relations and Communications Office (ERCO).

The following areas of collaboration are being considered and will be further discussed:

SCG scholarships for existing / future SCG staff (including non-Thais) to pursue master's and doctoral studies at AIT
SCG executive education at AIT - EMBA and professional master's / doctoral programs
Customized training programs at AIT
Internships of AIT students at SCG
Joint AIT-SCG industrial research (for SCG R&D;)
