Innovation, Technology Transfer and Capacity Strengthening for Africa's Aquaculture
AIT is exploring the possibility of there being cooperation with The New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) Secretariat, and was invited to partner NEPAD Fish in the concept note on 'Innovation, Technology Transfer and Capacity Strengthening for Africa's Aquaculture' which they are currently developing.
Progress on Pakistan Task Force
The Task Force headed by Dr. Anwar Naveed and working on the details of the establishment of an AIT Center in Pakistan is currently preparing a concept paper and a business proposal to be submitted to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan by the end of July 2007. The primary stakeholders in this Center are the HEC, AIT and the AIT Alumni Association of Pakistan.
SOM Faculty Co-authors a Book on Financial Reporting and Analysis
Congratulations to Dr. S. Venkatesh (right) of the School of Management (SOM) on the publication of his book titled 'Financial Reporting and Analysis: An Asian Casebook', co-authored with Dr. Winston Kwok Chee Chiu, National University of Singapore (NUS) and published by Pearson-Prentice Hall.
SERD Faculty Serves as an International Reviewer of Research Proposals
Congratulations to Professor Vilas Salokhe (right), School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) for having been invited by Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia to serve as an international reviewer of research proposals submitted by Croatian scientists, which is fully financed by the Ministry.
SOM Faculty Presents a Paper at the Entrepreneurship Development Conference
Dr. Barbara Igel (right) of School of Management (SOM) has been promoting entrepreneurship development initiatives at AIT aiming to support the economies in the region. Recently, she presented her paper at the Entrepreneurship Development Conference (EDC) 2007 plenary session in Durban, South Africa.

Taiwan academic cooperation renewed
The Government of Taiwan, through its Ministry of Education, has renewed its cooperation with AIT in the form of faculty secondments and the provision of scholarships for joint research with Taiwanese universities. Professor Tsong-Ming Lin, President of the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, informed AIT that the Taiwanese Ministry of Education will sponsor and second three faculty members to AIT, namely Dr. Huang, Chia Hsing, Associate Professor in Finance, for a one year period (Ph.D. in Finance, University of Pennsylvania, USA); Professor Wang, Yaw-Juen, Professor in Electrical Engineering, for a two year period (Dr.-Ing de l' Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, France); and Professor Gong, Dah Chuan, Professor in Industrial Engineering, for a two year period (Ph.D. in Industrial and System Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA). The Ministry of Education will also sponsor the doctoral studies of two lecturers, Mr. Hsiao-Kuang Kao and Mrs.
AIT Golden Jubilee Fundraising Campaign Workshop
The AIT Golden Jubilee Fundraising Campaign (GJFC) team held a workshop at the Khumluang Lamphun Resort, Nakhon Nayok, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on 14 July 2007. This followed a one-day brainstorming meeting on the organization of the 'Alumni Home Coming Seminar 2007' held on 13 July at the same location.
Masters in ComNETS, Institut National Des Telecommunications, France receives accreditation from Conference Des Grandes Ecoles, France
The Master of Science Degree program in Communication Networks and Services (MSc ComNETS), offered by Institut National Des Telecommunications (INT), France, in collaboration with AIT has been accredited by the Conference Des Grandes Ecoles, France, until June 2010. Under AIT-INT agreement, the first year coursework for this degree is conducted at AIT with AIT course curricula and the second year at INT, France.
Chairman of the Executive Committee Meets with AIT Administration
The newly appointed Chairman of the Executive Committee, H.E. Mr. Pieter Marres, Ambassador of The Netherlands, visited AIT on 10 July 2007 and was welcomed by AIT President Said Irandoust.
