Visit of Romanian Ambassador to AIT

On 4 July, H.E. Mr. Radu Gabriel Mateescu (third from right), Ambassador of Romania to Thailand visited AIT. AIT President Said Irandoust, ed AIT higher administrative heads and representatives from the Schools and External Relations and Communications Office (ERCO) welcomed the Romanian Ambassador and presented him the renewed AIT strategy and its potential in developing fruitful academic and research collaborations with Romanian institutions.

NANOTEC Center of Excellence Nameplate Presented to AIT

On 5 July, The National Nanotechnology (NANOTEC) Center of Excellence nameplate was presented by NANOTEC to AIT at a presentation ceremony which was held at AIT, and represented by Prof. Dr. Wiwut Tanthapanichakoon (third from left), Director of NANOTEC and other executives and members from NANOTEC.

AIT in partnership with NANOTEC set up the Center of Excellence in Nanotechnology at AIT, for application of nanoparticles, which is suitable for addressing developmental issues utilizing this burgeoning field of knowledge.

AIT President Attends ADPC Board Meeting

On 4 July, AIT President Said Irandoust attended the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) Board under the Chairmanship of H.E. Prof. Dr. Krasae Chanawongse. During the meeting, the board members were informed by the Director General, International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand that ADPC's Charter aimed at attaining formal international status has already been submitted to the Thai cabinet for approval.

New AITCC Manager

Ms. Phagawan Phadungsinlertwatana (right) was appointed new Manager of AIT Conference Center (AITCC), effective from 2 July 2007. She will be responsible for overseeing the operation and management of the AITCC and its facilities, including personnel, finance and budgeting, repair and maintenance, safety and security, administration and planning.

Workshop on CDM Energy Technologies for Sustainable Development in Thailand
On June 29, 2007, a workshop was held on “CDM Energy Technologies for Sustainable Development in Thailand” at AIT. This is one of the activities of a project entitled “Potential of transferring and implementing Sustainable Energy Technologies through Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol”. The project also known as ENTTRANS or energy technology transfer has been conducted by an international consortium that consists of ten organizations around the world.
