AIT delegation participates in the First International Conference on Natural Disaster Management and Rehabilitation

An AIT delegation comprising of faculty members Dr. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Dr. Kiyoshi Honda, Dr. Pennung Warnitchai, and Mr. Jothiganesh Sundaram, joined by representatives from the Embassy of Iran, and the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), Thailand participated in the 'First International Conference on Natural Disaster Management and Rehabilitation' held in Esfahan, Iran, during 7-10 May 2007. Around 500 delegates participated in the event which was inaugurated and addressed by the Mayor; Vice Minister for Disaster and Crisis Management; Chairman, Iran Space Agency and Vice Minister for Science and Technology, along with many high-ranking officials.

As part of the recently signed MOU between AIT and the International Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Management (ICE WaRM) - www.icewarm.com.au , AIT faculty and staff members are now eligible to apply for ICE WaRM fully funded International visits and short-term exchange programmes for conducting research, etc in water related fields.

AIT President Said Irandoust attended an appreciation ceremony organized by the Student Union (SU) at the AIT Conference Center on 21 May. According to AIT President, voluntary work is an important aspect during student life and he would like to credit the SU for organizing this event and all the students who have been actively engaged and worked voluntarily in numerous SU initiatives.
