AIT staff's work hailed among top 20 downloadable article in JAE

A journal article co-authored by Dr. Prabhat Kumar, a project staff working with Prof. Vilas M. Salokhe of Agricultural Systems & Engineering Field of Study, School of Environment, Resources and Development, has been among the top 20 articles downloaded in the last 12 months from the Journal of Applied Entomology published by Blackwell Publishing Inc.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources of Thailand is inviting members of the AIT community to participate in the Green Fins Slogan Contest, which aimed to create awareness of the Green Fins program among tour and dive operators in the ten member countries of the Coordinating Body on the Seas of East Asia (COBSEA), as well as the public at large, particularly tourists and diving enthusiasts whose practices affect the health of coral reefs.

Submissions are welcome for the Global Development Network's annual competition for the Most Innovative Development Project, which carries prizes in cash and travel of over US $50,000! The finalists will present their proposals at GDN's Annual Global Development Conference in Brisbane, Australia in January 2008. Submissions are accepted for an ongoing development project implemented in a developing or transition country.

ST International Co. Ltd. (www.stcolleges.com), Taiwan, will assist AIT in marketing the Doctor of Business Administration program offered by the AIT School of Management (SOM). This was announced following a meeting between Mr. Stephen B. W. Sim, CEO of ST International Co. and AIT President Said Irandoust on 26 April.

Obituary Prof. Fumio Nishino
Prof. Fumio Nishino, who enthusiastically served the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Tokyo for nearly 40 years and who served as Professor and Vice President for Academic Affairs of the Asian Institute of Technology from 1984-86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, 6 May 2007 at the age of 71 years old.
