AIT online admission on the right track

AIT's online application admission system is on the right track recording with more than 150 applications received for the August 2007 intake.

The online admission application process initiated in November 2006 provides the possibility for online payment of application fee through credit card, the ability to check on the status of the application, submission of recommendations by the referees, instant e-mail acknowledgement, as well as flexibility in filling the application forms in several sessions by retrieving the unfinished entry.

Scholarship opportunities for Myanmar students

Partial scholarship opportunities for 2007 are now offered by the Open Society Institute and Prospect Burma for students from Myanmar. The scholarships will be given to students in many fields and usually to those who have already been provided partial scholarships by other sources.

German course offered for the first time here

The Language Center (LC) is pleased to announce the launch of a German course. Marking a first time for LC courses, German will be for absolute beginners. Basic daily-life dialogues and an introduction to German grammar and pronunciation will be covered.

Another Beginner's Level Thai course opened

Due to popular demand, the Language Center announces the opening of another class for the Beginner's Level Thai course! Group I, which meets on Monday and Wednesday is already full. Group II will meet on Tuesday and Thursday.

World Bank Essay Contest 2007

Participate now and have your voice heard! The World Bank and its partners invite you to participate in the International Essay Competition 2007 to share your experience and ideas on fighting corruption.

Answer both topic questions: 1) How does corruption affect your life? and 2) What can you do to fight the corruption that you face?

If you have been personally involved in concrete initiatives, write specifically about your experience: How did you recognize corruption? Who have you worked with? Who have you helped? What have you accomplished? In what way would you consider this work to be innovative? How have you measured the results of your work? How would you improve your impact? How can other youth replicate your experience?

The deadline for submissions is March 15, 2007. The essay competition is open for nationals of ALL countries of the world, students and non-students alike, aged 18-25. Students enrolled in Ph.D. courses are, however, not eligible to participate.

AIT, UNU to conduct workshop, formalize accord

From 27-28 March 2007, a United Nations University (UNU)-AIT workshop will be held at AIT during which a memorandum of understanding between two institutions will also be signed formally recognizing AIT as an UNU affiliated institute.

AIT and Bangkok Bank Limited to cooperate through co-branding A collaboration between AIT and Bangkok Bank Limited, one of Thailand’s leading banks, to co-brand was discussed on a meeting held by Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President with senior officials of Bangkok Bank on 23 January 2007. Bangkok Bank officials suggested the provision of advanced education study loans, scholarship and research funds, student ID card plus credit card, developing a joint platform for SME and entrepreneurship (including television Channels 3 and 11 for regular promotion). With co-branding, it is expected not only to elevate AIT’s profile through Bangkok Bank branches but will likewise promote recruitment, employment or internship opportunities.
