GMSARN announces December conference

The Greater Mekong Subregion Academic and Research Network is hosting an international conference on Sustainable Development Issues and Prospects for the Greater Mekong Subregion from 6 to 7 December 2006 at AIT.

The conference is intended to initiate and stimulate international discussion on sustainable development issues in the Greater Mekong Subregion in the areas of energy, environment and natural resource management.

AIT with support from the International Development Research Centre, is organizing a workshop on 'Integrated Policies for Bio-innovations in Agriculture and Health in Asia' 6 - 8 November 2006. Additional support for the workshop has been provided by the Rockefeller Foundation (Southeast Asia Regional Office) and the Asian Development Bank.

AIT and the Thai Education Foundation won a competitive research grant from the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research Challenge Program for Water and Food in February 2006. AIT and the non-governmental organization collaborated with the Department of Non-Formal Education to select the village Ban Chaeng; District; At Smart; Roi-Et for what is known as Participatory Action Research.

The Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (RS&GIS;) field of study, School of Engineering and Technology welcomes Dr. Seishiro Kibe (left), who is seconded by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) as a visiting professor starting from July 2006.

Dr. Kibe completed his bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1975, his master's in Structural Dynamics in 1977 and his doctorate in Engineering in 1981, all from Tokyo University.
