Former AIT board member Dr. Sippanondha Ketudat passes away
The AIT community conveys deepest condolences on the passing away of Dr. Sippanondha Ketudat, a former member of the AIT Board of Trustees, on 16 July 2006.
Dr. Sippanondha was a board member from 1976 to 1982 and played a major role in shaping education reform in Thailand, as well as in the formulation of the mechanism for providing research grants.
Agreement means students, faculty from Taiwan
AIT and the National Yulin University of Science & Technology in Taiwan signed an open-ended agreement to collaborate on 21 July 2006. The agreement means a secondment of a faculty member from a Taiwanese university, beginning as early as the August semester.

Iranians' visit may lead to collaboration
A high level delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran visited 19 July
2006 to discuss cooperation with Tarbiyat Modarres University (TMU). TMU is a well-known State University and is responsible for training teachers to be absorbed into another universities in Iran.
Successful grant proposals subject of lecture
Professor Ramesh S. Kanwar, chairman of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Iowa State University, U.S.A., will present a lecture on 'How to develop a successful competitive grant proposal' at 3 p.m. on 28 July 2006 at Milton E Bender Jr Auditorium.
Nokia workshop looks at mobile applications development
The Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technologies fields of study at the School of Engineering and Technology are organizing a training workshop by Nokia on Symbian (Mobile Applications) Development, which will be held 14-18 August 2006. The workshop is conducted as a collaboration activity with Nokia, Research, Beijing and Nokia, Singapore.
City water, sanitation conference takes place in November
A regional conference on Urban Water and Sanitation in Southeast Asian Cities will be held from 22 to 24 November 2006 in Luang Prabang, Lao P.D.R.
The conference is being organized by the Southeast Asia Urban Environemental Management Applications Project, CIDA-AIT Partnership (2003-2008), the Urban Research Institute, Ministry of Communication, Transport, Post and Construction, Lao P.D.R; the World Bank Water and Sanitation Programme Country Office in Vientiane ; and Souphanouvong University in Luang Prabang.
