AIT alumna wins best student paper award

A graduated doctorate of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System field of study, Ms. Ornprapa Pummakarnchana (above) from Thailand, received the Best Student Paper Award for her outstanding presentation of paper at 5th World Scientific and Engineering Academy and Society International Conference on Instrument, Measurement, Circuits and Systems on 24 May 2006 in Hangzhou, China.

Session Internet Protocol workshop held in two classes

Fifty network operators, network engineers and lecturers from Inter University Network attended the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Workshop organized by AIT's Internet Education and Research Laboratory (intERLab). Due to the large number of participants, the training was divided into two classes, with the first class taking place 15-16 May 2006 and the second 17-18 May 2006.

The objective of the workshop was to train participants to build their own SIP Voice Over Internet Protocol servers with general public license software SIP Express Router.

(IWC019833), candidate for the degree of Doctor of Engineering in Water Engineering and Management (WEM), School of Engineering and Technology will have his final examination on Thursday, 8 June 2006, from 9 to 11 a.m. in Room WR209 (WEM Meeting Room).

His dissertation's title is 'An Integrated Approach to Real-Time Optimal Operation of an Irrigation Water System: A Case Study for Nam Oon Irrigation Project, Thailand.

AIT hosts pollutants workshop

Interested persons are invited to participate in a workshop on persistant organic pollutants at the Asian Institute of Technology's campus in Pathumthani. The 'Workshop on the Asian Research Programme on Persistent Organic Pollutants' takes place from 31 May to 1 June 2006 at AIT Conference Center, Room B 108.

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are long-lived chemicals that cycle between the different environmental compartments and are capable of traveling long distances, thus becoming ubiquitous global pollutants.
