Symposium on Geomatics to be held 14 Feb.

As a follow-up activity of AIT President Said Irandoust's trip to Korean universities and companies in October 2005, and as a result of the meeting with the president of the Geographic Information System Society of Korea, Prof Lee, AIT are preparing the Asia Pacific Symposium on Geomatics to be held at AIT on 14 February 2006 at the AIT Conference Center.

Internet courses offered to prospective water professionals

The Regional United Nations Water Virtual Learning Centre at AIT invites prospective water professionals to apply for its Internet-based curriculum in integrated water resources management, which begins in August.

Urban environmental planning discussed in Lao

AIT, through the Southeast Asia Urban Environmental Management Applications Project, and the Urban Research Institute, will hold a presentation called 'Professional Training Program on Urban Environmental Planning and Management' in Champasak, Lao PDR, 20-23 February 2006.

The four-day training aims to provide the participants with updated information and skills on the concepts and practices in urban environmental management.

SET welcomes visiting faculty

The Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering field of study, School of Engineering and Technology, welcomes Dr. Sundarraj K. Prasad as visiting faculty for January 2006 semester.

Dr. Prasad comes to AIT thanks to the government of India.

Directory assistance rate set at 3 baht a minute

The Telephone Organization of Thailand has issued a directive that effective 1 February 2006, it will start charging the amount of 3 baht per minute for directory assistance, No. 1133.

Engineering Professor Cites Concerns About Quakes' Effect on Dam

An AIT School of Engineering and Technology faculty member warned authorities to consider the worst-case scenario regarding a dam in Thailand 's Kanchanaburi province, coincidentally just hours before an earthquake struck just across the Thai border in Myanmar .

Dr. Pennung Warnitchai spoke on Tuesday at the National Human Rights Commission, and hours later a quake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale hit the Shan State in Myanmar, about 300 km from Chiang Mai.

AIT, Bogor Agricultural University Sign MoU
