Symposium on Geomatics to be held 14 Feb.

As a follow-up activity of AIT President Said Irandoust's trip to Korean universities and companies in October 2005, and as a result of the meeting with the president of the Geographic Information System Society of Korea, Prof Lee, AIT are preparing the Asia Pacific Symposium on Geomatics to be held at AIT on 14 February 2006 at the AIT Conference Center.

Urban environmental planning discussed in Lao

AIT, through the Southeast Asia Urban Environmental Management Applications Project, and the Urban Research Institute, will hold a presentation called 'Professional Training Program on Urban Environmental Planning and Management' in Champasak, Lao PDR, 20-23 February 2006.

The four-day training aims to provide the participants with updated information and skills on the concepts and practices in urban environmental management.

Engineering Professor Cites Concerns About Quakes' Effect on Dam

An AIT School of Engineering and Technology faculty member warned authorities to consider the worst-case scenario regarding a dam in Thailand 's Kanchanaburi province, coincidentally just hours before an earthquake struck just across the Thai border in Myanmar .

Dr. Pennung Warnitchai spoke on Tuesday at the National Human Rights Commission, and hours later a quake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale hit the Shan State in Myanmar, about 300 km from Chiang Mai.
