3rd International Symposium Southeast Asian Water Environment

The University of Tokyo (UT) and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), in cooperation with Southeast Asian Center on Water Environment Technology
(SACWET), a joint center of UT and AIT, will organize the Third International Symposium on Southeast Asian Water Environment, to be held at AIT Conference Centre from 6-8 December 2005.

The Symposium will provide a forum for discussion and exchange among researchers/practitioners in Environmental Technology and Management and related areas from the Asian Region and to promote interaction among researchers from Asia-Pacific countries, Japan and other parts of the world.

The Tenth East Asia-Pacific Conference on Structural Engineering & Construction (EASEC) will be held on 3-5 August 2006 at InterContinental, Bangkok, Thailand

Organized by AIT, in collaboration with Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, King Mongkut's University of Technology, and Thammasat University, EASEC -10 will celebrate the opening of the new Ministry of Transport and Construction, the inauguration of the Suvarnabhumi airport, the construction of the Gulf Corridor Bridge, and several other mass transit projects.

Dr. Yang Yi to head Asian Fisheries Society

Congratulations to Dr. Yang Yi, Coordinator of Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management (AARM) FoS/SERD for being elected as the President of the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS) for a three year term, starting Nov 2007. The election was conducted by the AFS councilors during the 30th council meeting held in Bangalore, India on 7-8 Nov 2005.

The recognition by this society formed in 1984 - with over 2,800 scientists from 75 countries and territories - is a testimony of his dedicated service.
