Setting research priorities for cities and climate change: AIT’s Dr Shobhakar Dhakal publishes in Nature

Cities must address climate change, and there is a need for a “long-term, cross disciplinary studies to reduce carbon emissions and urban risks from global warming.” Setting the agenda and six research priorities in the latest issue of “Nature” are Dr. Shobhakar Dhakal and 10 other leading scientists who have co authored an article of “Six research priorities for cities and climate change.

Tracing the history of AIT, and envisioning the future of higher education in the region

Tracing the history of the establishment of the SEATO Graduate School of Engineering and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), and envisioning the future of the Institute in the context of global and regional changes in the landscape of higher education was the theme of two lectures organized by AIT in February 2018.

Setting things in motion at AIT on 20 February 2018 was the Milton E. Bender Jr. Lecture and Public Discussion, where Dr. Adrian Ray Chamberlain, former President of Colorado State University (CSU), spoke on “SEATO-GSE AND AIT: Beginnings and Visions for the Future.

AIT signs MoU with Department of Industrial Works

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Industrial Works (DIW), Ministry of Industry, Royal Thai Government. The agreement was signed by Mr. Mongkol Pruekwatana, Director General, DIW, and Prof.

Dr Takuji W. Tsusaka joins as Assistant Professor

Dr. Takuji W. Tsusaka has joined the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in the Department of Development and Sustainability as Assistant Professor.

Dr. Tsusaka obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Applied Physics from University of Tokyo (1999), Master of International Development Studies jointly from National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) and Foundation for Advanced Studies on International Development (FASID),Tokyo (2008), and Ph.D. in Development Economics from GRIPS (2011).

Prior to joining AIT, he was serving as a scientist at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics  (ICRISAT) in its Eastern and Southern Africa Program.
