Promotions to professorial rank
I am pleased to announce that the Executive Committee at its 13 December 2004 meeting endorsed the promotion to the rank of Professor of Dr Kazi Mohiuddin Ahmed, SAT/Telecommunications Field of Study, and of Dr Dencho N Batanov, SAT/Computer Science & Information Management Fields of Study.
Acting Dean of the AIT Extension
Dr Teresita del Rosario (left) is to assume the position of Acting Dean of the AIT Extension, concurrent to her appointment as Secretary General of the Greater Mekong Subregion Academic & Research Network (GMSARN) and Coordinator of the ADB-AIT Networking Project, effective from 1 January 2005. She is expected to assume this new assignment until 30 June 2005. I am grateful to Dr del Rosario for having accepted to assume this additional responsibility.
Executive Committee Meeting
A meeting of the Executive Committee was held on 13 December 2004. The meeting was chaired by Ambassador Jan Axel Nordlander, Chairman of the Executive Committee. H.E. Mr. Anand Panyarachun, Chairman of the Board of Trustees also attended part of the meeting.

Holiday break campus service advisory
ITServ's network and Internet services will be available 24 hours as usual except on 29 and 30 December 2004 (2 days) when a major maintenance work on cabling and server systems will be conducted. On the other hand, Helpdesk service will be offered between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. only
Swimming pool users are advised by the Security, Sports and Safety Officer that the swimming pool facility will be closed for public use from 25 December 2004 to 7 January 2005 for annual maintenance purposes.
Ornprapa wins Best Speaker Award on Remote Sensing
Ms. Ornprapa Pummakarnchana (above), STAR Program, School of Advanced Technologies (SAT) doctoral student from Thailand recently received a Best Speaker Award from the Asian Association on Remote Sensing for her outstanding paper presentation at the 25th Asian Conference on Remote Sensing.

AIT holds 102nd Graduation
AIT will hold the 102nd Graduation Ceremony today, Tuesday, 21 December 2004 at the AIT Conference Center Auditorium. Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President will preside over the ceremony.
The 102nd commencement exercises will mark a historic end to the last tri-semestral students with a coincidental total of 102 graduands.
