APN Awards RNUS/WEM US$45,000
The Asia Pacific Network (APN) for Global Change Research recently awarded AIT's Regional Network Office for Urban Safety (RNUS) and the Water Engineering and Management (WEM) field a US$45,000 to carry on a year-long research.

On August 20, 2004 a delegation from the Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City (BUHCMC), Vietnam visited AIT. 16-24 August 2004: The Internet Education and Research Laboratory (intERLab) is conducting hands-on Internet network operation center training for fifteen network engineers from Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand.
Mission Promotes AIT in Peshawar, Islamabad and Lahore, Pakistan
An AIT delegation led by Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Director of Promotions Activities and Ms. Naina Shakya, Program Officer, Office of the President visited Pakistan. The delegation held meetings from July 16 to 24, 2004 with heads of various institutes in the cities of Peshawar, Islamabad and Lahore.

AIT marks Queen Sirikit Arboretum Garden's one year anniversary
On the occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's 6th cycle birthday anniversary, the AIT community together with the officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) of the Royal Thai Government and Ambassadors to Thailand and their spouses held a tree planting ceremony as part of the one year anniversary of the Queen Sirikit Arboretum Garden at AIT campus on 6 August 2004.
The event was presided over by Dr. Monthip Sriratana Tabucanon, MNRE Inspector-General, representing MNRE Minister.
SPIE honors Prof. Awnashilal B. Sharma fellow
The International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) recently honored Prof. Awnashilal B. Sharma (right) of the Telecommunications Field of Study, SAT, as one of the 33 new fellows who have made significant scientific and technical contributions in the fields of optics, photonics, and imaging.
New SERD graduate receives ITTO Research Fellowship
Mr. Bhoj Raj Khanal (left), newly graduate student of Rural and Regional Development Planning with Specialization of Integrated Watershed Development and Management recently received the Freezailah Fellowship Research Fund (International Tropical Timber Organization Research Fellowship) for Research from Japan in July 2004.
International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) is working in the field of forest product marketing around the world.
