AIT marks Queen Sirikit Arboretum Garden's one year anniversary

On the occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's 6th cycle birthday anniversary, the AIT community together with the officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) of the Royal Thai Government and Ambassadors to Thailand and their spouses held a tree planting ceremony as part of the one year anniversary of the Queen Sirikit Arboretum Garden at AIT campus on 6 August 2004.

The event was presided over by Dr. Monthip Sriratana Tabucanon, MNRE Inspector-General, representing MNRE Minister.

The International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) recently honored Prof. Awnashilal B. Sharma (right) of the Telecommunications Field of Study, SAT, as one of the 33 new fellows who have made significant scientific and technical contributions in the fields of optics, photonics, and imaging.

New SERD graduate receives ITTO Research Fellowship

Mr. Bhoj Raj Khanal (left), newly graduate student of Rural and Regional Development Planning with Specialization of Integrated Watershed Development and Management recently received the Freezailah Fellowship Research Fund (International Tropical Timber Organization Research Fellowship) for Research from Japan in July 2004.

International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) is working in the field of forest product marketing around the world.

Philippines DOST names Prof. Bergado 'Balik Scientist' Awardee for 2004

The Philippines Department of Science and Technology (DOST) recently named Prof. Dennes T. Bergado, faculty of SCE GTE FoS as 'Balik Scientist' Program Awardee for 2004.

The 'Balik Scientist' award -- coined from Tagalog word 'balik' that means to come back and the English word scientist -- is a government initiated program wherein Filipino science and technology experts residing abroad are encouraged to return or reside in the Philippines to share their expertise to accelerate the scientific, agro-industrial and economic development of the country.
