UNU donates software package on Remote
Sensing/GIS

The United Nations University (UNU) donated the School of Civil Engineering a package of software on Remote Sensing and GIS called ERMAPPER. It was handed over by Dr. Srikantha Herath (above right), Senior Academic Programme Officer at UNU, to Professor Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, SCE Dean in a simple ceremony on February 23, 2004 at the Civil Engineering Lounge.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) Summer Internship Program for 2004 is now accepting applications for internship to a two-month 2004 Summer Internship Program to qualified Master or Doctoral students, starting from June 28, 2004, in the following Terms of Reference:

Project A: 'Pension system in Central Asian Republics'
Project B: 'Estimating Equilibrium Real Exchange Rate (ERER) in Azerbaijan'
Project C: 'Agriculture subsidies and under valuation of forestry in the Mekhong Region: Implications for ADB's assistance to forestry/natural resource sectors'
Project D: 'Developing ADB's Assistantce Strategy for Safe Motherhood and
Newborn Health'
Project E: 'Why is foreign assistance more effective in some countries? An enquiry into factors contributing to development effectiveness'
Project F: 'Trustfunds in the Pacific, their Role and Future'
Project G: 'Poverty and Alcohol Abuse in South Asia'
Project H: 'Effective Fiscal Consolidation Strategies in Emerging Market
Economies'
Project I: 'Reducing child mortality in south Asia through effective and efficient interventions: Evolving assistance strategies for achieving MDGs

AIT President, Prof. Jean-Louis Armand (right) welcomes Mr. You Shaozhong

On February 27, 2004, Mr. You Shaozhong, accompanied by Ms. Feng Junying, Secretary-General and Deputy Director respectively of, China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), Dr. Shi Buzhou, Vice President, Jiangsu Teachers University of Technology, Mr. Xiaonan Yu, Deputy Director, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Exchange and Ms. Jacquelin Xu, Director/CEO Thai-Chinese Education Center, Beijing Office visited AIT.

The Chinese delegation requested the Department of Export Promotion (DEP) to channel them in their visit to AIT as part of their itinerary because they were attending the Thailand Education Exhibition held last February 27 - 29, 2004 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.

The procedures for checking the thesis/research study title page are as follows:
(i) Make a print out of the RESEARCH STUDY/THESIS TITLE page;
(ii) Get your Advisor's approval of the title by asking him/her to sign on the title page;
(iii) Write your 'working' e-mail address on the title page;
(iv) Submit your title page to the Registry Office.
