Thirty-four applicants from nine countries have been selected for the award of HM King’s, HM Queen’s, and GMS Scholarships at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in the August 2017 session. This includes students from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Nepal, Myanmar, Pakistan, The Philippines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
The list of successful applicants from Thailand will be announced by the end of May.
The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is among the founding signatories of the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECi), a project initiated under the Eastern Economic Development Plan that focuses on creating a science hub in the ASEAN region. Fifty organizations from academia, national and international research organizations, governmental bodies and the private sector are signatories to the EECi.
MTR Academy, Hong Kong, and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) will jointly develop and deliver a postgraduate level pilot subject on “Rail System Administration and Management.†The two will also explore the possibility of development of a full Master’s program in Rail System Engineering and Management. This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MTR Academy and AIT on 4 April 2017.
The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has signed a partnership with two Cambodian Universities — the Phnom Penh International University (PPIU) and the Asia Euro University. The MoU was signed by the AIT President Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai with Mrs. Tep Kolap, Rector of PPIU, and Dr. Chea Sopheap, Rector, Asia Euro University, respectively.

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) continues to maintain its premier position among world’s top international universities scoring a perfect No. 1 rank in all six indicators in the category of “International Orientation†as announced by U-Multirank in the latest “Institutional Rankings 2017†released on 30 March 2017. Dr. Shobhakar Dhakal, Associate professor and Head of Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Change at AIT’s School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD, has published a new book titled “Creating Low Carbon Cities.â€
Thirty-one companies participated in the AIT Career Fair organized at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 29 March 2017, with 10 of the 31 companies attending the bi-annual event for the first time. A Research Exhibition showcasing the research work of students was organized by the AIT Students’ Union in conjunction with the event.
AIT alumnus Thamarak La-Ongnual has been appointed Rector of Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University. He received the Royal Command on 18 March 2017.
