New Appointments

The Institute is pleased to announce the appointments of Mrs. Boontharee Phoonchai as Head of the AIT Library with effect as of 1 January 2004; Mr. Jiraphong Bumpenyoo as Officer of the Arboretum Project with effect from 1 February 2004; and Mr. Nimit Chantakote as Security, Sports and Safety Officer with effect from 1 February 2004. The Head of the AIT Library will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Library and will work closely with the Library Committee.

January 26 - 29, 2004: 'International Conference on Wastewater Treatment for Nutrient Removal and Reuse 2004 (ICWNR '04)' is organized by the Environmental Engineering and Management (EEM) of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). Supported by the International Water Association (IWA), the conference will be held at the AIT Conference Center.

Nobel laureate Ramos-Horta honors AIT with lecture

His Excellency Mr. Jose Ramos-Horta (right), Timor-Leste's Senior Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Co-operation, will be the third lecturer in the Nobel Laureates and Eminent Persons Lecture Series hosted at AIT by the International Peace Foundation in partnership with various organizations and institutions in Thailand.

Approximately 119 new students have enrolled at AIT for the January 2004 intake. The Institute, on January 12, 2003, held an orientation program for these new students at the AIT Conference Center. The January 2004 batch is the second intake under the AIT semester system.
