On December 19, 2003, AIT held the 99th Graduation Ceremony to 221 students from 22 countries at the AIT Conference Center. Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President presided over the ceremony.

THE HISAMATSU PRIZE
Vuong Hoai Nam
(M.Eng., in Computer Science)
Mr. Vuong, a Vietnamese citizen, obtained his B.Eng. degree, majoring in Computer
Science, from Hanoi University of Technology, Vietnam, in 2002. Mr. Vuong was
admitted to the AIT Master degree program in the field of Computer Science in
May 2002.
Thesis: "Detecting Possible Buffer Overflow Attacks in C Programs"

THE JAMES A. LINEN III MEMORIAL PRIZE
Morakot Apinyankul
(M.Sc., Information Management)
Miss Morakot, a Thai citizen, obtained her B.Sc. degree in Computer Science,
from Thammasat University, Thailand, in 2000. Miss Morakot was admitted to the
AIT Master degree program in the field of Information Management in May 2002.
Thesis: "Wireless and Bluetooth Technologies for Enabling Web Applications"

A student of Space Technology, Applications and Research (STAR) Program doctoral student, School of Advanced Technologies (SAT) - Ms. Daroonwan Kamthonkiat (RSD019869) (left) - were among the six young scientists who received the 'Best Speaker Award' during the recent Asian Conference on Remote Sensing in Busan, Korea.

AIT, Columbia University lead 'Pioneer Workshop' in Nanotechnology

A significant breakthrough - one of the many - in the experimental and modeling of nano-mechanics was the showcase highlight during a recent workshop on 'Nano, Material, Continuum and Computational Mechanics'.

The workshop, organized on December 11- 12, 2003 at AIT's Milton Bender Auditorium in collaboration with the Columbia University (CU), is under the sponsorship of US-based National Science Foundation (NSF) and conducted under the auspices of Thailand's National Nanotechnology Center, New Millennium Foundation (India), Thailand Society of Computational Mechanics, and the International Association of Computational Mechanics.

Forty-one Rajabhat Universities and AIT Sign MoU

Forty-one Rajabhat Universities (RUs) and the Asian Institute of Technology on December 18, 2003 signed their first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ever

The agreement - valid five-years from 2004-2008 - aims to foster relationship and joint activities with an international focus, and intends to enhance the knowledge of faculty, research staff and students of RUs and AIT.

The program covers scholarships for master's and doctoral degree program for RUs teaching staff, collaborative activities, such as acceptance of qualified exchange students in selected programs of study and cooperation activities, and joint research programs.

AIT, FTPI signs MoU

AIT, FTPI signs MoU

On December 17, 2004, AIT and the Foundation for Thailand Productivity Institute (FTPI) signed MoU. The MoU aims at AIT and FTPI to jointly establish a Six-Sigma Professional Group (SSPG) and jointly administer the Six-Sigma Training Program for a period of one year.
