AIT seals goodwill, cooperation pacts with recent visitors

On September 19, a Swedish delegation comprising of H.E. Mr. Jan Axel
Nordlander (above right), Swedish Ambassador to Thailand; Mr. Jerker Thunberg, Head of the Department for Natural Resources and the Environment, Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), Stockholm; and Dr. Bo Gohl, First Secretary of the Swedish Environmental Secretariat in Asia (SENSA), visited AIT and met with the Institute's administrators.

MOET Vietnam, AIT to sign training accord

The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), Vietnam and AIT is to sign on
September 26, a new agreement for MOET to provide scholarships for the 2003-2006
intakes at AIT.

The agreement aims to provide more opportunities in the Master and Doctoral
levels for lecturers and management staff of universities, research
institutes, high tech parks, government administrative organizations,
politico-social organizations, and other Vietnamese enterprises provided
they are eligible for government funding.

Prof. Gopal Mugeraya, Visiting Professor in the Environmental Engineering
and Management (EEM), seconded by the Indian Government.

September 26, 2003:: A seminar on 'Precision Agriculture - Can Asia benefit from it?' will be conducted by Naiqian Zhang, Ph.D., Professor and Coordinator, Graduate Programs, Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, USA. The seminar will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Room 221, AFE Building.

The School of Advanced Technologies welcomes Dr. Pisut Koomsap, Assistant Professor to the Design and Manufacturing Engineering Field of Study in the August 2003 term.

Dr. Pisut (left) obtained his B.Eng. (IE) from Thammasat University in 1994; M.Sc.
(IE) from University of Louisville, Kentucky, USA in 1996; and Ph.D. (IME)
from The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, USA in 2001.

His area of research interests include Sensing and Control for Manufacturing
Processes and Systems; Laser Applications; Automation & Robotics;
Reliability; Continuous Improvement; Rapid Prototyping.

January 14-16, 2004:: International Conference on 'Electric Supply Industry in Transition: Issues and Prospect for Asia' will be held at the AIT Conference Center.

The conference are co-organized by Power Systems Engineering Research Center (PSERC, more than a dozen leading universities in the USA, including Berkeley), University of Technology, Sydney, Australia, and Asian Institute of Technology.
