The School of Environment, Resources and Development cordially welcomes Dr. Cecilia Ng as Visiting Associate Professor in the Gender and Development Studies Field of Study for the May 2003 Term.
Dr. Cecilia Ng was previously an Associate Professor at the Universiti Putra Malaysia.
SERD Masteral Students Receive Award
SERD's August 2002 graduates, Mr. Ekbodin Winjitkul (left) and Mr. Nabin Upadhyay (below right), won the best paper awards from the International Air & Waste Management Association - West Coast Section (AWMA-WCS), California, USA. The awarded papers were written from their Master's thesis research and presented to The West Coast Section of the Air and Waste Management Association student paper competition.
AIT held the Internet Week
On May 12-20, 2003, the Internet Week was held at the AIT Conference Center to provide the opportunity for network experts in Thailand and the Asian region to present their research work, discuss, and enhance their latest knowledge in Internet technology development.
World Environment Week to be held at AIT
In observance of the World Environment Day, AIT will celebrate the event starting from June 6 to June 10, 2003.
Activities on June 6. 2003 will kick off at 10:00 a.m, with a tree planting ceremony led by Prof.
Doctoral Thesis Presentation
Mr. Nguyen Duy Binh, a candidate for the degree of Doctor of Engineering in Water Engineering and Management Program, School of Civil Engineering will have his final examination on Tuesday, June 3, 2003, 10:00 a.m. in room WR209 (WEM Meeting Room).
His dissertation is entitled 'Modeling of Water Flow and Solute Transport Through the Unsaturated Zone Using Dual-Porosity Approach.

Signing of the NORAD-AIT Agreement: 2003-2005
An agreement between the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) was signed on May 14, 2003. Under this agreement, the Government of Norway will provide support in an amount of not exceeding NOK 15,000,000 to AIT during 2003-2005. The objective is to 'strengthen the capability of institutions in the developing countries in Asia to address issues related to poverty alleviation, environmentally sustainable natural resources management and gender responsive development through higher education and training of relevant personnel.
