Reports of RTG Joint Projects (FY2002)

The Royal Thai Government (RTG) recently granted a budget of THB15 million, through the Office of the National Education Commission, to AIT to conduct 16 joint research projects with national state universities or research institutions during FY2002.

Presenting their progress reports last Friday, February 28, 2003 were the first eight selected AIT leaders and projects as follows:

International Women’s Day

International Women's Day

In observance of the International Women's Day to be held worldwide on
March 8, 2003, the AIT Gendev Department and the Office of the DSCA will organize the International Women's Week from March 3-8, 2003.

The Week will kick off with a Morning Walk on March 7, 2003 with students from the AIT Community School at 8:00 a.m. and assembly will be in front of the AIT Conference Center.

The sale will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2003 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Student Accommodation Office, Ground Floor, Dormitory E.

March 7, 2003: Dr. George P. Einstein, a Visiting Professor at Asian University of Science
and Technology will present his research in the area of robotics (Telescopic Robotic Arm for Wheelchair,
Gripper for Automated Assembly Line, Bipedal Walking Robot, Robot for Astronauts) on Friday, March 7, 2003
at 1.30 p.m., in room 115, Chalerm Prakiat Building.

Visiting AIT

On Wednesday, February 12, 2003, a delegation from the Korean Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) and the International Research and Development Academy (IRDA) visited AIT. The visit intends to facilitate academic exchange with SERD and SAT faculty members and to investigate further collaborations with AIT as a whole.

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden to visit AIT

On February 26, 2003, His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf will visit AIT. His Majesty's visit includes a familiarization tour of AIT and the event will highlight
His Majesty's inauguration of the Thailand Accident Research Center (TARC) set up at the School of Civil Engineering (SCE) with the support of Volvo.

Visiting AIT

On February 6, 2003, the Sida delegation visited AIT. The delegation consists of Dr. Berit Olsson, Head of the Department for Research Cooperation (SAREC); Mr. Jerker Thunberg, Head of the Department for Natural Resources and the Environment; Mr. Rolf Carlman, Head of the Department for Infrastructure & Economic Cooperation (INEC); Dr. Anders Thuren, Swedish Environment Secretariat in Asia (SENSA) and Dr. Bo Gohl, SENSA.
