SCE Welcomes Prof. C.B. K. Rao

The School of Civil Engineering is very pleased to welcome Prof. Chittem Butchi Kameswara Rao, currently a Professor of Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (India). Prof. Rao was appointed Visiting Professor at the Structural Engineering and Construction Program for a period of three (3) months from January 5 to April 30, 2003. He is seconded to AIT by the Government of India.

His dissertation is entitled: 'An Assessment of the Restructuring Agriculturing Production System Project (RAPS) in Det Udom District, Thailand.

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), on September 3, conducted an orientation to the new students at the Conference Center. A total number of 323 students from 33 countries worldwide enrolled at AIT for this term, starting on September 3, 2002.

Dr. Donyaprueth Krairit from Thailand – is joining as Assistant Professor. Dr. Donyaprueth received her B.S. (Computer Science) from Thammasat University, Bangkok, 1993; M.S. (Telecommunications) from University of Colorado at Boulder, Boulder,Co,U.S.A., 1994 and Ph.D. (Technology, Management, and Policy in Telecommunications) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, U.S.A., 2001. Dr. Donyaprueth will teach the course SM02.71 'Technology Policy' in this September 2002 Term.

Symposium on Total Quality Management

On August 30-31, the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Tokyo University of Information Sciences (TUIS) organized a symposium on 'Quality Management and the Deming Prize' at AIT Conference Center. Professor Jean Louis Armand, AIT President presided over the opening ceremony with 113 participants from industries, institutions, quality certifying institutions and AIT community attending the symposium.
