On 17-19 December, staff members from various AIT offices and units (Admissions and Scholarships; Registry; AIT Conference Center; Dean of Student and Community Affairs; Housing; Physical Plant; Promotional Support Services; Sports, Safety and Security; Student Union) and staff members of SERD, participated in a team building workshop on 'Creativity for AIT with AIG Process' conducted by Mr. Prasarn Marukpitak.

FRENCH CLASSES

The AIT EXTENSION will be holding French classes in the January 2002 term. These will be open to all members of AIT and their families.

The total duration of the course will be 20 hours and will cost
250 Baht including textbook.

Contract Invitation for Campus Bicycle Shop

The current contract for the Bicycle Shop will expire on 31st March 2002 and the Committee for Campus Providers is looking for another supplier.

The successful bidder is required to open 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday, offer sales and servicing of all types of bicycle and spare parts, extend politeness and courtesy to all clients and provide good service at acceptable rates.

Sida and AIT sign agreement to extend support to EPSM

Sida and AIT sign agreement to extend support to EPSM

An agreement between the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida)
and AIT was signed on 23 February 2001 providing for the extension up to December 2001 of Sida support to the Electric Power System Management (EPSM) Field of Study in the Energy Program, SERD.

AIT awards degrees to 208 graduates and confers Honorary Degree on
H. E. Abdurrahman Wahid, President of the Republic of Indonesia

At the 90th graduation ceremony on 15 December, AIT
conferred the Honorary Degree of
Doctor of Philosophy on H.E. Abdurrahman Wahid, President of
the Republic of Indonesia, and awarded degrees to 208 graduates from
20 countries in Asia and other regions.

APPOINTMENT OF PROF. THANH AS INTERIM AITCV DIRECTOR

Prof. Thanh

Professor Nguyen Cong Thanh was appointed Interim Director of the Asian Institute of Technology Center in Vietnam (AITCV), effective 15 December until 30 June 2001.

He will assume the interim of Dr. Jari Backman, whose secondment by the Government of Finland terminated at the end of this year.

Mr. Phanom Slisatkorn (M.Eng., Computer Science)

Mr. Phanom from Thailand obtained his B.Eng. in Electronics Engineering from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology, Ladkrabang, Thailand, in 1997. He worked as an engineer at Asia Wireless Communications, Thailand, prior to joining AIT.
