an official visit to AIT on 2 June. On the delegation were Prof. Dr. Nguyen
Dinh Huong, NEU Rector; and Mr. Pham Quang Trung, Deputy Director

SMEs lag far behind in environmental management skills, yet they make up the sector
most likely to use production processes harmful to the environment.

It is vital that SMEs adopt cleaner manufacturing techniques, not only to prevent pollution but
also to enjoy greater success in overseas markets, such as the US, Europe and Australia, where
much importance is placed on the ISO certification of exporters.

Zayed International Prize for the Environment

Zayed International Prize for the Environment
The President of the United Arab Emirates has a personal dedication to environmental issues and invests heavily in environmental concerns. In honour of his work, an environmental prize has been established in his name: the Zayed International Prize for the Environment (UNEP HQ was involved in its establishment). The prize, worth 1 million US dollars, is awarded once every two years.
