AIT WORKSHOP ON WEB-BASED COURSE DELIVERY
Over the next few years, AIT will make full use of Internet technologies in support of its core activity - the delivery of higher education to students and the region. This workshop is intended to enable faculty to contribute to efforts towards that goal.

MILESTONES

Prof. Tawatchai Tingsanchali of the Water Resources Engineering and Management Program, School of Civil Engineering, has been nominated and elected by the ASCE (the American Society of Civil Engineers) as 'Fellow of ASCE, the highest category of membership in this prestigious body.

Strengthening Asian-German Relations

Under the theme 'Strengthening Asian-German Relations', the GTZ-AIT Cooperation Team will hold its second gathering on Friday, 31 March, from 17.00 - 20.00 hrs. in the SOM Building area. It will follow the pilot event of a luncheon hosted in December last year for AIT students and AIT graduates with German Scholarships.

Winner of AITAA Grant

The Executive Committee of the AIT Alumni Association is pleased to announce Mr. Thilak Ginige as the recipient for the September 1999 term of the AITAA Grant supporting Doctoral student participation in international conferences.

SEMINAR SERIES IN FRENCH

Mr Andre Mercier, Chief Executive Officer of the retail group Big C/Casino Thailand, spoke to SOM students on 21 March on the retail market worldwide and in Thailand. This event ended the seminar series in French which was coordinated by Prof.

CARING FOR OUR CITIES
H.E. Dr. Arthit Ourairat, Minister of Science, Technology and Environment (MOSTE) of Thailand, was the honored guest at an international workshop, 'Creating Sustainable Cities through Urban Environmental Management', organized by the Urban Environmental Management Project of the Canadian Universities Consortium and AIT and sponsored by Environment Canada.

WELCOME
The School of Environment, Resources and Development and the Urban Environmental Engineering and Management Program cordially welcome Dr. PER H. NIELSEN from Denmark as an Associate Professor. He is seconded by Danida for 2 years.

Dr. Nielsen holds a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.
