Collaborations with Sri Lanka were further strengthened by a mission led by Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President, who travelled to Colombo on 23-26 January 2000 and held high level meetings with concerned authorities.

Working with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education

Preceding the mission was a visit to AIT on 16 January by H. E. Mr. Richard Pathirana, the Sri Lankan Minister of Education and Higher Education, accompanied by H.E. Mr. Karunatilaka Amunugama, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Thailand and an AIT Trustee.

URBAN ROAD SAFETY Training Course

The Asian Center for Transportation Studies (ACTS), in collaboration with CUC UEM, is organizing a training course, 'Urban Road Safety' on 15-17 February 2000, Room B202 at AIT Center. The three-day training course focuses on urban road safety and management problems.

Budget Bureau keen to cut financial aid

The cabinet has approved financial aid of 163 million baht for the Asian Institute of Technology between the year 2000 and 2004.

The funding for the seventh phase of the financial aid program is split in two categories: 115 million baht for the scholarship program and 48 million baht to support the institute's expenditure, including salaries of coordinators of the aid program.
