Thirteen AIT Professors within Top 2% of Global Scientists in World’s Critical Science Disciplines in 2021

Eleven, up from four last year, of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT)’s faculty members and emeritus professors are recognized for their most recent single year impact -- while nine, up from seven last year, are recognized for their career-long impact up until 2020. Overall, thirteen AIT professors are placed among the global top 2% of influential scientists, according to the report of “Composite Citation Metrics” by Elsevier BV Netherlands and Stanford University, released in August 2021.

In the research arena, citations not only portray the influence a scientist has on their peers, but also lay foundations for new discoveries and innovative ideas.

Linking Nepal’s Research and Education Communities to the Global Research and Education Network

AIT Gender Development Studies alumnus, Dr. Rajan Parajuli, is bringing gender perspective into improving Nepal's research and education through a global network dedicated to research and education. Understanding that gender equality is important for sustainable development, he also works to ensure technology serves women in the rural areas with telemedicine initiatives in Nepal.

AIT Joined the 5th East Asia Summit Clean Energy Forum with Signing of MoU and Research Presentation

November 25, 2021 -- The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) took part in the 5th East Asia Summit Clean Energy Forum, together with leaders from China and ASEAN countries’ governmental, public, and private sectors. Against the backdrop of the 30th anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations, the institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute (CREEI) and showcased its research to promote green and sustainable energy in ASEAN. 

The 5th East Asia Summit Clean Energy, held on November 25 – 26, 2021, was organized by China’s National Energy Administration, and co-organized by CREEI, ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and other regional stakeholders.

AIT Received In-kind Donation from i-bitz Company Limited

Mr. Prasong Pateepermpong, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at i-bitz Company Limited agreed to provide in-kind donation of the Vallaris software to the Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (RS&GIS) program, Department of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), School of Engineering & Technology (SET). 

The Vallaris is Software as a Service (SaaS) cloud computing platform that provides Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and web mapping tools for storage, analysis, and visualization in a web browser developed by i-bitz company.

First Recipient of the AIT Chinese Alumni in Thailand Student Exchange Scholarship

Ms. Bai Zixuan, Master student in the School of Management from Hebei province, People’s Republic of China is the first recipient of the AIT Chinese Alumni in Thailand Student Exchange Scholarship. She is granted half of her expenses during the exchange program at EDHEC Business School, France from 10 January 2022 to 7 May 2022. These scholarship exchange programs will give the opportunity to our Master’s students to broaden their international exposure for their further development in order to become responsible citizens of the world, through one-semester academic exchanges with globally recognized prestigious universities that AIT have agreements.
