Welcome to New Faculty

Dr. Bernadette P. Resurreccion has been recently appointed Assistant Professor in the field of study, Gender and Development Studies, under the Rural Development, Gender and Resources Program, School of Environment, Resources and Development. Dr. Resurreccion completed her M.A. and Ph.D in Development Studies at the Institute of Social Studies in the Hague, the Netherlands. Her research interests include gender and natural resource use and management, gender policy and planning, gender issues in state/market incorporation, rural and upland development.

Dr. Resurreccion has written for The Bulletin of Concerned Asian Scholars and Alternatives: Local Transformations and Human Governance. Her thesis, Transforming Nature, Redefining Selves, Gender and Ethnic Relations, Resource Use and Environmental Change in the Philippine Uplands was recently published (Maastricht: Shaker Publishing, 1999).
Dr. Resurreccion is co-author of a book, People, Power and Resources. Critical Essays on the Politics of Environment in the Philippines, which was nominated for the National Book Award in 1999 (Social Science Category) by the Manila Critics Circle.

The School of Advanced Technologies welcomes Dr. Nitin Tripathi who joined the Space Technology Applications and Research Program in January 2000 as an Assistant Professor. He is teaching AT09.98 (ED13.21W), an Institute-wide GIS course and will also supervise Master's research in the Program. In May 1999, Dr. Tripathi served STAR as a visiting professor teaching remote sensing and statistics.

Dr. Tripathi, who worked for Indian Institute of Technology Kampur, India, since 1988, completed his Doctoral research in 1995. In the same year, he was awarded the AICTE Career Award for Young Teachers.
