Timor Leste Ambassador assures all help to AIT

Ambassador of Timor Leste to Thailand, H.E. Mr. João Freistas de Câmara, assured the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) of all help to facilitate the program initiated by AIT towards capacity building in his country. During a visit to AIT on 25 April 2012, H.E. Mr. Câmara remarked that Timor Leste had made a substantial budget allocation for human resource development.

BNU delegation visits AIT seeking student exchange and joint research

An eight-member strong delegation arrived from China on 24 April 2012 to explore the possibility of joint research and student exchange with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). Led by Prof. Li Xiaoxi, Deputy Director, Beijing Normal University Academic Committee, the delegation held talks with the AIT administration as well as its schools, extension and outreach centers.

Spirit of togetherness marks AIT Cultural Show 2012

The student from India went onstage to perform a Hindi song. Hardly had he begun that two students from Pakistan sauntered toward him and began to dance to the tune. Shortly afterward, a girl from Nepal joined them with her “Zumba” routine. She was followed by the students from Myanmar and Thailand. Midway through the song, students from a dozen countries, most of them in their traditional costume had improvised an impromptu dance to the melodies of a song they perhaps had never even heard before.

Dr Dailey wins AIT Marathon

A spirited Dr. Matthew Dailey, Associate Professor in AIT’s School of Engineering and Technology (SET) emerged victorious in the AIT Mini Marathon organized by the AIT Student Union on 10 April 2012. Crossing the finishing line much earlier than his younger students, Dr. Dailey was the declared overall winner of the marathon.

SHE foundation trustee visits AIT

Dr. Burra Divya Sunitha Raj, Trustee of SHE (Social Awareness, Health and Education) Foundation, visited the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and discussed ways to promote AIT in India and Ukraine. Dr. Raj, who is also an Indian representative at the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Sports, Ukraine, stated that AIT has a lot to offer, and prospective students from India and Ukraine will find AIT an attractive destination.
