The World Bank policy research papers are among the most downloaded items in the internet. Downloads of World Bank papers are rated third next only to the National Bureua of Economic Research and the University Library of Munich (Germany).This was revealed by Dr. Chanin Manopiniwes, Infrastructure Economist, and Ms. Buntarika Sangarun of the, Public Information Center of the World Bank (Bangkok office) during a presentation on “World Bank Information Resources and on the World Bank Role in Infrastructure Development”.

A two day workshop on “MDGs Analysis and Operational Indicators for Gender Mainstreaming and Equality” was organized by the ASEAN Regional Center of Excellence on Millennium Development Goals (ARCMDG) at the Conference Center of Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).

Two teams of university engineering students from Thailand won prestigious prizes at the World Challenge, A.N.T.Z. Robotics Competition held on 24 January 2010 in Mumbai, India. The team from King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok “IRAP” won first place in Type ‘A’ category, while the team from Singburi Technical College won second place of the Type ‘B’ category.

AIT and Hong-Kong based CSR Asia have joined forces in a joint venture to open the CSR Asia Center at AIT (CSRACA), the Institute’s newest center located at its Pathumthani, Thailand campus.

Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has a great potential and deserves a much higher place in the field of higher education in China. There is tremendous scope of substantive cooperation between AIT and Chinese institutes of higher education. This was stated by Mr. Zhou Nanzhao, Director, International Center of Teacher Education, China Normal University.

Student mobility is on the increase with 2.7 million students travelling abroad in the year 2006 to pursue higher education. This number is expected to rise to 7.2 million by the year 2025. Half of the mobile students are from China and India.
