3rd AIT Masters Theses Competition

To
promote an atmosphere of research, acknowledge and showcase outstanding
research conducted by its students, the Institute conducts an annual
theses competition.  The 3rd AIT Masters Theses Competition was
conducted last 14 May 2008 among AIT masters students graduating this
month in seven categories, namely: civil engineering, development,
energy & environment, industrial systems engineering, information
& communications technologies, management, and resources.

First [v]thesis Awards Night

In a well-deserved victory, two
graduating students from the School of Engineering tied for the much
coveted first prize award in AIT’s inaugural video competition
highlighting research.

 

[v]thesis, AIT’s newest initiative from
a joint effort by the office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs
(VPAA), the Student Union (SU) and the Promotional Support &
Services Unit (PSSU), was launched on 20 May 2008 at the Milton Bender
auditorium.

AIT Extension Programs

AIT Extension have the following programs scheduled:- A course on implementing of ERP application and management from 21April to 2 May 2008 for participants from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lankafor a total budget of 382,800.- The 2nd AIT-ACIAR (Australian Centre for InternationalAgricultural Research) professional development program on deliveringquality extension services from 28 April to 9 May 2008.  This ACIAR-financedprogram for participants from ACIAR’s Smallholder Agribusiness DevelopmentInitiative (SADI), Indonesia has a total budget of Baht 1,197,419.- ACIAR also sponsors a professional development program onagribusiness development and management from 28 April to 10 May 2008 forparticipants from ACIAR’s Smallholder Agribusiness Development Initiative(SADI) and from Jember University, Indonesia.

News from Sponsored and Contracted Projects Unit

The Structural Engineering Laboratory of the School of Engineering & Technology is proud to announce two new projects set to run until next year. The first, led by Dr Sun Sayamipuk, Senior Laboratory Supervisor, is from the PBL Group Co Ltd worth 240,000 Baht requesting the installation and inspection of the creep of high strength concrete in main columns in the Asian Center construction project in South Sathorn Road, Bangkok.

Visit from University of Montpellier, France

On 24 April, AIT received the visit of a delegation from the University of Montpellier 2, France. The visitors included Professor Jacques Rivire, Vice Rector for international relations, Professor Claude Dupuis, Emeritus Professor and Coordinator for Franco-Thai relationships, and Professor Jacqueline Raymond, International Relations Officer at the National Graduate School of Chemistry of Montpellier.

AIT-Ansell Leadership Development Program

On 24 April, the certification ceremony was held for the 5th batch of the AIT-Ansell Leadership Development Program at the AIT Conference Center. The graduates were 19 senior managers coming from Ansell's offices around the world. The leadership program, now entering its 6th consecutive year, is  coordinated by Dr. Sundar Venkatesh of SOM. Vice President, Academic Affairs, Professor Peter Haddawy, delivered the graduation speech and also presented the certificates to theparticipants.
