On 4 December 2007, Dr Jonathan Shaw and AIT President Said Irandoust met with Dr Paul Beresford-Hill MBE, the Director-General of the Mountbatten Institute, and his colleagues Ajai Randhawa and Isabel Hedges, for further discussions on a possible collaboration between AIT and the Mountbatten Institute.

The 36th Annual Meeting of the Governing Board of the AIT Alumni Association (AITAA) was held during 7-9 December 2007 under the leadership of distinguished AIT alumnus and President of the AITAA Mother Chapter, General Dr. Boonsrang Niumpradit.

The Asian Association for Agricultural Engineering (AAAE) organized a four-day International Agricultural Engineering Conference (IAEC), the ninth in its series, at the AIT Conference Center during 3-6 December. This biennial event, convened by Professor V. M. Salokhe, was attended by nearly 120 participants, representing over 20 countries.

On 7 December 2007, the AIT Community School held its annual Inter-House Athletic Meet which was presided over by Dr. Jonathan Shaw, Director, AIT Extension. Pol. Maj. General. Praphan Panikhom, Commander, Pathumthani Provincial Police, declared the meet open.

Congratulations to AIT alumnus from School of Management (SOM), Dr. Phallapa Petison, whose recent research paper was chosen by the Editor(s) of the Management Decision and their judging panel as worthy of a Special Commendation of the 2007 Emerald / EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Award in the category of Management and Governance.

Professor Peter Haddawy, Vice President for Academic Affairs is working on organizing a workshop on teaching and learning which will be held at AIT on 5 and 6 April 2008, under the umbrella of ASAIHL. The workshop will be led by Dr. Lynne Hunt, who is a Board Member of the Carrick Institute for Teaching and Learning in Australia, and who is a recipient of the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Teaching.

On 28 November 2007, Professor Roland Chin, Vice President for Academic Affairs of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), delivered a talk on "Peer Review and Quality Assurance of Teaching and Learning". 

He started with an overview of HKUST's rapid development into a highly regarded research university.

The AIT-AITAA Collaborative Workshop for Homecoming 2009 was held on 7 December 2007. This event was organized jointly by the Golden Jubilee Fundraising Campaign and the AITAA Mother Chapter. AIT President Said Irandoust along with General Dr. Boonsrang Niumpradit, President of the AITAA Alumni Association Mother Chapter; Dr. Chainarong Na-Lamphun, former President of AITAA, President's of the National Chapters, GJFC Internal Steering Committee members, and other alumni representatives attended the workshop.

As part of its new Asia-Africa Initiative, from 3-4 December 2007, AIT organized a workshop on the topic “Doing Business in Africa” in Bangkok, which was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Thailand. Senior officials from the Ministry and other related government agencies in Thailand, ambassadors from several of the African nations, leaders of international organizations such as the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) and the African Development Bank, academia, leaders from industry and finance discussed how business relations could be further strengthened for the mutual benefit of Africa and Thailand.
