Taiwan academic cooperation renewed
The Government of Taiwan, through its Ministry of Education, has renewed its cooperation with AIT in the form of faculty secondments and the provision of scholarships for joint research with Taiwanese universities. Professor Tsong-Ming Lin, President of the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, informed AIT that the Taiwanese Ministry of Education will sponsor and second three faculty members to AIT, namely Dr. Huang, Chia Hsing, Associate Professor in Finance, for a one year period (Ph.D. in Finance, University of Pennsylvania, USA); Professor Wang, Yaw-Juen, Professor in Electrical Engineering, for a two year period (Dr.-Ing de l' Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, France); and Professor Gong, Dah Chuan, Professor in Industrial Engineering, for a two year period (Ph.D. in Industrial and System Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA). The Ministry of Education will also sponsor the doctoral studies of two lecturers, Mr. Hsiao-Kuang Kao and Mrs.

The AIT Golden Jubilee Fundraising Campaign (GJFC) team held a workshop at the Khumluang Lamphun Resort, Nakhon Nayok, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on 14 July 2007. This followed a one-day brainstorming meeting on the organization of the 'Alumni Home Coming Seminar 2007' held on 13 July at the same location.

Masters in ComNETS, Institut National Des Telecommunications, France receives accreditation from Conference Des Grandes Ecoles, France

The Master of Science Degree program in Communication Networks and Services (MSc ComNETS), offered by Institut National Des Telecommunications (INT), France, in collaboration with AIT has been accredited by the Conference Des Grandes Ecoles, France, until June 2010. Under AIT-INT agreement, the first year coursework for this degree is conducted at AIT with AIT course curricula and the second year at INT, France.

AIT Plans to Have a Joint Master’s Degree Program with Two Top Indonesian Universities
AIT proposed to have a joint master’s degree program with two top universities in Indonesia -- Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and the Universitas Gadjah Mada Indonesia with funding to be provided by the Bureau of Planning and International Cooperation, Ministry of National Education (MNE). MNE plans to send as many as 4000 lecturers (today only 400) for higher studies abroad, starting from 2008. The program aims to share experiences amongst the top national universities in Indonesia as well as international institutions.

AIT Mission to Azerbaijan
The proposal on "Capacity Building for Education in ICT in Azerbaijan" jointly developed by the Government of Azerbaijan, AIT and the International Institute of Geo-Information and Earth Observation (ITC) Netherlands was endorsed by the Azerbaijan cabinet and was officially submitted by the Government to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on 20 June 2007. This was among several outcomes of the meetings and discussions during the mission of AIT President Said Irandoust and Mr. Nico Barito, Senior Fellow, United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), to Baku, Azerbaijan, at the invitation of the Government from 18-21 June 2007 through the support of the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
