Free NGV Open Air Bus Shuttle Service between AIT-TU-NSTDA

As part of the efforts of the AIT-Thammasat University (TU)-National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) campus subcommittee, a free NGV open air bus shuttle service between AIT, TU and Science Park was launched on 14 May 2007. The bus stops in front of the AIT Conference Center near the Bookstore and the bus service is available daily (except public holidays) from AIT to TU hospital and to the Asian Game Zone A. AIT community members can also take a connecting bus from the TU campus to the Thailand Science Park.

Catholic Academic Support Program for Foreigners renews an MoU with AIT
A renewed MoU between AIT and KAAD (Catholic Academic Support Program for Foreigners) has been finalized for a two-year period. The renewal of this MoU will make available scholarship support for qualified applicants from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Timor Leste and Vietnam to pursue masters or doctoral degree program studies at the AIT. In exceptional cases, students from Thailand may also be considered.

AIT President Said Irandoust with Professor Vilas Wuwongse, Vice President for External Relations, met with Mr. Mitsuru Myochin, Principal Deputy Director, First Country Assistance Planning Division International Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan and Mr. Daisuke Okabe, First Secretary, Embassy of Japan to Thailand, on 29 May 2007, to further discuss the feedback from the Government of Japan on the draft AIT Charter.

AIT to partner with IUCN on Coastal Zone Management Project

AIT to partner with IUCN on Coastal Zone Management Project

AIT will enter into a contract with the World Conservation Union (IUCN) for the implementation of a Coastal Zone Management project which will include 'National capacity and training needs assessment for different stakeholder groups in order to identify gaps, needs, strengths and opportunities for building capacity in integrated coastal zone management'. The value of the present project is US$160,250 and will cover Indonesia, Sri Lanka , India, Maldives, Thailand and , Seychelles - countries which were hit by the tsunami in this part of the world.

Launch of New Bio-Asia Program

Prof. Sudip K. Rakshit, Vice President Research AIT and Mr. Jean-Philippe Thouard, AIT French cooperation coordinator represented AIT at the launching seminar of the French Bio-Asia Programme. The program is a new regional programme of the French cooperation established to support joint research and innovation between France and Asia in the field of natural substances.
