AIT and University College of Boras, Sweden, discussed the possibility of various types of cooperation during the visit of Professor Mohammad Taherzadeh, from the School of Engineering, University College of Boras, Sweden, to AIT last week where he had meetings with Professor Sudip K. Rakshit, Vice President for Research, Professor Chongrak Polprasart and other faculty members.

Prof. Nurul Amin, Urban Environmental Management (UEM), School of Environment Resources and Development(SERD), is invited to join the International Advisory Board of UN-HABITAT's 'State of the World's Cities Report 2008/9', which is to be launched in 2008 during the Fourth World Urban Forum to be held in Nanjing, China.

New Human Resources Head appointed

New Human Resources Head appointed

Ms. Phanit Tiravongchaipunt, was appointed new Head-Human Resources Office, effective from 15 March 2007. Ms Phanit is responsible for overseeing the personnel management of the Institute. This will involve conducting HR functions in accord with labor laws, implementing terms and conditions of employment for employees, facilitating career development, and planning short- and long-term HR operations.

AIT President's participation at SEAMEO Conference Strengthens Partnership with ASEANProf. Said Irandoust, AIT President, participated in two major international events—the 42nd SEAMEO Council Conference and 2nd ASEAN Education Ministers Meeting, held in Bali, Indonesia, from 3-16 March 2007. The events were attended by all the ASEAN Ministers of Education together with other high-ranking officials from the member states as well as associate / affiliate members / observers, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain etc.

According to the delegation from the World Bank Institute (WBI), Mr. Kabir Ahmed, Chief Administrative Officer (Finance, Partnership, Scholarships) and Mr. Kamel Braham, Scholarships Administrator who visited AIT on March 9, AIT is one of top 50 plus universities worldwide which the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) has selected as its ‘cooperative universities’ where it will sponsor scholars to pursue graduate studies.
