Dr. Khin Ni Ni Thein, Vice President for Development and Resources, recently announced the final list of AIT Student Ambassadors to assist in strengthening the Fundraising team under four different categories: Student Ambassadors, Student Sport Ambassador, Student Project Leaders and the Student Fundraising Team members.

The School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) welcomes Dr. Philippe Doneys (right) who has joined the Gender and Development Studies Field of Study effective 01 March 2007.

Dr. Philippe Doneys received his: Honors BA (IDS) from the University of Toronto, Canada, MA (SEA Studies) from SOAS, University of London, and Ph.D. (IR) from SciencesPo (Paris). Dr. Doneys has been a lecturer at Fribourg University, Thammasat University and more recently was a visiting professor in the IDS programme at Chulalongkorn University.

AIT once again joined the world in observing and celebrating the International Women's Day on 8 March 2007. The Gender Development Studies (GDS) of the School of Environment, Resources and Development at AIT organized a march around the campus, followed by short speeches by Professor Sudip K. Rakshit, Vice President for Research, and Dr. Philippe Doneys, a new faculty in the Gender and Development field of study at an event held at the Korea House.

Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President, participated in the "First Forum of the Azerbaijan and Turkish Diaspora Organizations' Leaders" held in Baku, Azerbaijan, on 8-9 March 2007. His participation in the Forum was widely highlighted in the media through interviews both in English and Azerbaijan languages.

H.E. Mr. Jonas Hafstrom (above), Ambassador of Sweden, was designated as the new Chairman of the Executive Committee by Dr. Tej Bunnag, Chairman of AIT Board of Trustees at the meeting of the Executive Committee held on 2 March 2007. H.E. Mr. Hafstrom succeeds H.E. Mr. Laurent Aublin, Ambassador France.

Royal Thai Army to develop a master plan for research cooperation with AIT
The Royal Thai Army (RTA) plans to develop a 5-year master plan for research cooperation with AIT, after the visit of 21 high-ranking officers from RTA, led by General Montri Sangkasap, Chief of Staff of the RTA, to AIT on 6 March 2007. The visit aimed to explore the possibility of cooperation between AIT and the RTA in applying research work to the RTA activities.
