AIT and the Government of Germany are renewing their relationship as discussed during Ms. Hannelore Bossmann (above right), Head of the South-East-Asia Section of DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in Bonn, Germany, accompanied by Mr. Jan Stevener (seen below, left), Director of DAAD, Information Center in Bangkok, visited to AIT on 1 March 2007. From the discussion between DAAD delegates and the AIT Administration, AIT will soon be submitting a proposal for consideration by DAAD outlining specific areas in which there could be cooperation.

The Bridge Fund (TBF) expressed its interest in continuing the partnership with AIT during the visit of Ms. Monica Gary, Executive Director and Ms. Camille Richard, Program Director from The Bridge Fund (TBF) to AIT on 1 March 2007.

The TBF representatives also expressed their appreciation to Government of France for its support extended to ethnic Tibetans from China to further their studies at AIT. There are currently three ethnic Tibetans enrolled at AIT through TBF with the support of French Government.

Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President, recently welcomed Dr. Saeed Mitzamohammadi, Deputy Director General, Economic Studies and International Cooperation Bureau, Management and Planning Organization (MPO); and Dr. Nemat Hassani, Associate Professor, Power & Water University of Technology (PWUT), Head of Research Center for National Disasters in Industry from Iran, who were in Bangkok for meetings with ESCAP to discuss the setting up of a center for disaster mitigation and management in Iran.

The Habitech Center of the School of Engineering and Technology (SET), AIT,
is carrying out the construction of 56 houses in the Baan Nam Khem Village
of the Phangna Province. Habitech Center is responsible for the design,
training, construction, and supervision of the housing implementation for
the EU-ASIA PRO ECO II B Post-Tsunami Project.

Dr. Santoso completed his doctoral study in Civil Engineering with specialization in Transportation Planning from Saitama University, Japan in 2005 and master's degree in Construction Management from AIT in 1999.
