Call for proposals of the France/AIT Network programme

AIT and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs launch the first Call for Proposals of the France/AIT Network programme.

The regional programme France/AIT - Network carries joint research projects for scientific development in the ASEAN region established by an agreement between the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). The programme aims to promote and support scientific and technological cooperation between French research institutions and universities, AIT and other research institutions and universities based in Asia, and the public, non-governmental and private sectors.

Dr. Amararatne Yakupitiyage heads AARM FoS

Prof. Sivanappan Kumar, Dean of School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) on 7 February appointed Dr. Amararatne Yakupitiyage as new coordinator of the Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management (AARM) Field of Study for a period of two years, effective 1 January 2007.

Progress made on AIT-Africa initiative

AIT is making good progress on its AIT-Africa initiative. On 30 January 2007, Prof. Said Irandoust, AIT President, met with H.E Mr. Kim Hak-Su, Under Secretary General of the UN and Executive Secretary of ESCAP to discuss possible cooperation between AIT and UNESCAP regarding the 'Asia/Africa Initiative for Higher Education in Science and Technology for Development.

SOM designs new set of specialized courses

The School of Management (SOM) has designed new set of specialized courses to accommodate the special needs of the SOM doctoral students. This will prepare the Ph.D. students to achieve excellence in the preparation, conduct and publication of their thesis, and at the same time it has a strong faculty development component that renders the Ph.D. program attractive for universities and donors of scholarships.
