AIT Re-establishing its Brand in Europe — President visits 11 Universities

President Eden Woon this month led a two-week AIT international cooperation mission to five countries across Europe. From May 2-14, the president engaged with university leaders for bilateral cooperation at eleven distinguished universities in the United Kingdom, France, Lithuania, Estonia and Romania, discussing bilateral relations, signing academic cooperation agreements at four institutions, laying the groundwork for future research collaboration, expanding exchange destinations for our students from Asia, and speaking at two international conferences.

AIT Scales Up to the Next Level of Knowledge Management with the Launch of AIT Share

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is scaling up to the next level in knowledge sharing with the launch of AIT Share, an e-Learning platform aimed at educators, executives, students, or anyone interested in furthering their knowledge. The new platform, which comes with the slogan “Knowledge Worth Sharing,” allows participants to acquire new knowledge, improve their skills, take certificate courses, and obtain professional masters-level degrees.

These four lessons were offered by Prof. Tony F. Chan, President of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia, at the 131st graduation of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) held on 17 May 2019. Offering lessons based on his personal experiences, when he, as a student opted for the newly emerging field of computer sciences, Prof Chan quoted the example of Jeff Bezos who left a lucrative Wall Street job to start Amazon.

AIT Alumna Stars in Sri Lanka’s First Satellite Launch

Ms. Dulani Chamika Withanage, an alumna of the Mechatronics program at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), is a key person associated with the development of Sri Lanka’s first satellite known as Raavana 1. Weighing 1.1 kilograms, the cube-sized satellite was launched into space from the mid-Atlantic space station in Virginia on 18 April 2019.

AIT Names New Dean of School of Management

AIT is pleased to announce that Dr. Roger Levermore of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) will assume the post of Dean of School of Management on August 1, 2019.  He will concurrently bear the title of Associate Professor.  Dr. Levermore is presently the Associate Director of CUHK’s MBA Program and Associate Professor of Practice in Management, and prior to that he was the Associate Director of the MBA Program of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Associate Professor of Business Management Education.

INDEX International Offers Three Scholarships to AIT Students

INDEX International will offer three scholarships to Master’s students to pursue their education at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). A formal Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed by Dr. Chainarong Na Lamphun, President and CEO of Index International Group Co., and Dr. Eden Y. Woon, President of AIT on 19 March 2019.

The scholarships follow the format of the INDEX International scholarships previously offered by Dr. Chainarong in 2017. The scholarships are available to Thai nationals, and they carry a bond requiring recipients to serve with INDEX International for a period of 48 months after the completion of their studies.
