Student Union snack bar re-opens
The Campus and Environmental Committee of AIT Student Union announced the reopening of SU Snack Bar on Wednesday, 2 August. The new vendor, M/S Darbar Caterer, is experienced in the restaurant business and is expected to provide appropriate service.
Flower shop opens in arcade
A flower shop named Lila Florist, located at Unit C-140 at the AIT Arcade, is now open for business. The shop offers flower arrangement and decoration for all occasions. A variety of colorful decorative plants and artificial flowers are also available in the shop.
Library closed 12-13 August
Please be informed that library will be closed on 12 and 13 August 2006 due to the holiday of Her Majesty the Queen's Birthday (Mothers' Day) and Compensatory Day.
The library will be open again on 14 August for all to use and for new students to familiarize themselves.
AIT energy conservation forum, more data available online
The Infrastructure Office appreciates the enthusiastic response of the AIT community to its recent communication aimed to raise consumer awareness on energy conservation. The office has received many comments, expression of concern and constructive suggestions which show that the AIT community supports this common cause of conserving AIT energy.

Energy alumnus to receive Outstanding Scientist Award
Dr. Somchai Wongwises, a professor at King Mongkut University of Technology in Thonburi has been awarded the 2006 Outstanding Scientist Award. The Foundation for Science and Technology Promotion under the Patronage of His Majesty the King gives awards to outstanding scientists in an effort to support and encourage Thai researchers.

Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra opened the 10th East Asia Pacific Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction (EASEC-10) at the InterContinental Hotel on 3 August 2006. In his speech to the 649 participants from 41 countries and the dignitaries present for the opening, the prime minister underscored the importance of construction in the everyday lives of people in the region.
