On 29 June 2006, nine members of the city council from the Science City of Munoz, Nieva Ecija, Philippines, visited AIT to explore the collaboration. The delegation was led by the Hon. Mr. Jose A. Ruiz, Jr., who is a 1979 graduate of AIT's Agricultural and Food Engineering program.

Swedish journal publishes AIT president’s vision for universities of professions

AIT President Said Irandoust recently had an article published in the Swedish journal, “Universitetslararen” (“Journal for University Teachers”).

The article, written in Swedish, responds to one of the debate themes on the criteria to be used in evaluating university colleges in transferring to full-fledged university status.

The Asian Institute of Technology signed an agreement with the government of Indonesia to open a center in Bandung, Indonesia on 28 June 2006. The Asian Institute of Technology Center in Indonesia will collaborate with the Indonesian Ministry of Public Works providing human resource development that will facilitate research and development, consultancy, professional trainings and higher education.

Reports on donors/brainstorming meetings available online

On 7 and 8 June, AIT hosted two meetings with key partners and donors to discuss the draft of the institute-wide five-year strategic development plan. Two overriding conclusions AIT can draw from both meetings are that the institute must ensure its financial stability and it must do a better job marketing itself to the public if it is to achieve the goals in the plan, which overall were deemed excellent by meeting attendees.
