UNEP job vacancy

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction from Industry in Asia and the Pacific project (GERIAP) is looking for a part-time Thai Translator.

Responsibilities:

To translate the following 15 energy and monitoring equipment chapters from English into Thai (430 pages): Fuels and combustion, Boilers and refractories, Steam distribution and utilization, Compressed air and compressors, Furnaces, Cogeneration, Waste heat recovery, Electricity, Electric motors, Pumps and pumping systems, Fans and blowers, Lighting, Air conditioning and refrigeration, Cooling towers, Monitoring equipment.

AIT alumna wins best student paper award

A graduated doctorate of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System field of study, Ms. Ornprapa Pummakarnchana (above) from Thailand, received the Best Student Paper Award for her outstanding presentation of paper at 5th World Scientific and Engineering Academy and Society International Conference on Instrument, Measurement, Circuits and Systems on 24 May 2006 in Hangzhou, China.

Session Internet Protocol workshop held in two classes

Fifty network operators, network engineers and lecturers from Inter University Network attended the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Workshop organized by AIT's Internet Education and Research Laboratory (intERLab). Due to the large number of participants, the training was divided into two classes, with the first class taking place 15-16 May 2006 and the second 17-18 May 2006.

The objective of the workshop was to train participants to build their own SIP Voice Over Internet Protocol servers with general public license software SIP Express Router.

AIT President Said Irandoust delivered a thank-you message to the AIT community for a successful and memorable 105th Graduation Ceremony, presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Recent grad wins paper competition
Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc Ha, who graduated 24 May from the School of Environment, Resources and Development, won the best student paper award from the West Coast Section of the Air and Waste Management Association (AWMA). The paper has been written from her master's thesis research and was sent to the judging panel in April.

HRH Princess Sirindhorn confers degrees upon 469 graduates

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the 105th graduation ceremony of the Asian Institute of Technology, held 24 May 2006 at Thailand Science Park Convention Center.

Use care when opening MS Word attachments

A critical security vulnerability has been discovered that affects nearly all versions of Microsoft Word. It can be used to propagate viruses or worms through Word documents attached to e-mail or found on web sites.
