Tien, head of Infrastructure, informs the AIT community the standard operating procedure pertaining to requests to access of closed offices or classrooms is that the security guard on duty will ask the name and other pertinent information of the requesting individual for recording purposes.

Medical clinic reduces services, hours

As of 1 May 2006 the AIT medical clinic will cease offering its psychiatric clinic and cut back its hours.

The service hours of nurses will be as follows: working days 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.; holidays 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

As a result, there will be no service of the AIT clinic from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on working days and until 7 a.m. on holidays.

Due to insistent demand and the growing number of guests to the AIT Conference Center buffet lunch, the frequency of the buffet has been increased to twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday, starting 25 April 2006. Therefore, the Special Noodle Corner, which used to be scheduled on Tuesdays, has been discontinued.

Norway 's government gives boost to SE Asia sustainable development

The government of Norway is furthering its support of sustainable development in Southeast Asia with a NOK 20,000,000 (approximately US$3.1 million) contribution to the Asian Institute of Technology.

Norway to contribute US$3.1 million

The government of Norway has announced its support of AIT's proposal on 'Education for Sustainable Development' from 2006 to 2009. Total approved support from Norway is NOK 20,000,000 (approximately US$3.1 million). The signing ceremony will be held at AIT on Thursday, 27 April 2006.

The contribution will be used to fund scholarships, Gender and Development Studies and academic networking between Norwegian and regional institutions.

New master's program soon formalized

AIT, the Department of Mineral Fuels, Ministry of Energy, Petroleum Institute of Thailand and numerous oil and gas companies are launching the first interdisciplinary Professional Master's of Engineering in Offshore Technology and Management program to be offered by School of Engineering and Technology (SET).

The partners include: PTT Exploration and Production Public Co., Ltd, Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production Ltd.
