Partnership with Druk Green Power Corporation

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has partnered with Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC), Bhutan to offer postgraduate degree programs, and conduct training and capacity building courses for DGPC professionals.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by AIT and DGPC on 25 June 2018, aimed at both long-term and short-term customized professional development courses,  including postgraduate certificate, master’s, and professional master’s degree programs for engineers and management staff.

New publication on Climate Change and Cities

A new publication titled “Climate Change and Cities: Second Assessment Report of the Urban Climate Change Research Network,” co-edited by Dr. Shobhakar Dhakal of AIT has been released.

Dealing with  Environmental Policy, Economics and Law, Climatology and Climate Change,Earth and Environmental Sciences, the volume  has been published by Cambridge University Press.

AIT partners with IIT Roorkee

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India, to promote joint academic and research activities.

At the exchange ceremony of the MoU,Prof. Ajit K Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee, described AIT as a “natural partner,” stating that the two institutes have complementary strengths.

Sri Lanka Ambassador presides over Leadership Program in Agricultural Research Management

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, H.E. Mrs. Kshenuka Dhireni Senewiratne, presided over the conclusion ceremony of the Professional Development Training Program on Leadership in Agricultural Research Management.

Addressing the participants from Sri Lanka, Ambassador Senewiratne stated that the training program addressed two key areas of focus of the Government in Sri Lanka - development of the agricultural sector, and capacity building of government employees.

AIT remains the top-ranked international university according to latest rankings

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has maintained its position as the world’s top international university once again, bagging six perfect scores for the second consecutive year in the category of “International Orientation” in the latest edition of U-Multirank’s “Annual World Rankings of Universities” released on 6 June 2018.

AIT is the only university in Asia to be ranked at the global top in international orientation, and this is the third time in the past four years that AIT has achieved this impressive result.

AIT alumnus appointed Minister in Viet Nam

Dang Hoang An, an alumnus of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has been appointed as Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade in Viet Nam. Prior to his elevation as Minister, he was serving as General Director of Electricity Viet Nam (EVN). He was appointed by Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, and his elevation became effective from 15 May 2018.

AIT President Designate Dr Eden Y Woon

EDITED TO ADD: Dr. Eden Y Woon has assumed office of AIT President from 1 September 2018.

The Board of Trustees of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has unanimously approved the AIT Presidential Search Committee (PSC) recommendation to appoint Dr. Eden Y Woon as the next AIT President, effective 1 September 2018.

SATEL and DNWP Advanced Telecommunications Laboratory to be established at AIT

A “SATEL and DNWP Advanced Telecommunications Laboratory” will be established at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). SATEL Oy and Dedicated Network Partners (DNWP) will sponsor radio technology and transmission equipment to establish this new laboratory in the Telecommunications Program in the Department of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
