product providers on campus, a new convenient shop was opened on Friday, 3 Feb 2006, at the old PTT station, beside the cafeteria.
Prof. Haddawy hosts office hours
Following the practice begun by the president, Prof. Peter Haddawy, Vice President for Education, now has open office hours every second week as his travel schedule permits. Prof. Haddawy's open office hours take place on the second and fourth Tuesday afternoon of every month, coinciding with the president's open office hours.
Chinese, Korean courses offered
Those interested in learning beginner's level Mandarin Chinese please register right away. Those interested in learning Korean should express an interest to the Language Center.
The schedule for the Chinese course is 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and Fridays from 1 February to 17 March 2006. Maximum class size is 20. The course will be conducted if at least 10 people register.
Anti-virus software offered free of charge
ITServ reminds all members of the AIT community that the site-licensed anti-virus program, Trend Micro Officescan, is available to all AIT users at no cost. It is centrally updated from a mirror server inside AIT, therefore updates are fast and reliable.
Vietnamese ring in new year with a bang
The Vietnamese community of AIT came together Saturday, 28 January 2006 , to celebrate the Vietnamese New Year. More than 200 students, faculty and staff of various nationalities joined to welcome the lunar new year with food, drinks, karaoke, dancing and fireworks.
Norwegian ambassador visits AIT
On 26 January 2006, H.E. Mrs. Merete Fjeld Brattested (above left), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to Thailand, visited AIT to strengthen the fruitful collaboration between Norwegian Government and AIT.
During her visit, Her Excellency had a meeting with the AIT administration and an open discussion with the recipients of the Norwegian Scholarships and student from Norwa
German ambassador to visit
H.E. Dr. Christoph Brummer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, will visit AIT on Wednesday, 8 February.
During his visit, the German ambassador will meet with AIT Administration, led by Prof.
Staff invited to propose, participate in funded projects
Prof. Sudip K. Rakshit, Vice President for Research, on 31 Jan. 2006, announced that institute-funded staff can become involved in all aspects of externally supported work. Previously this incentive was open only to faculty.
