Dr. Yang Yi to head Asian Fisheries Society

Dr. Yang Yi to head Asian Fisheries Society

Congratulations to Dr. Yang Yi, Coordinator of Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management (AARM) FoS/SERD for being elected as the President of the Asian Fisheries Society (AFS) for a three year term, starting Nov 2007. The election was conducted by the AFS councilors during the 30th council meeting held in Bangalore, India on 7-8 Nov 2005.

The recognition by this society formed in 1984 - with over 2,800 scientists from 75 countries and territories - is a testimony of his dedicated service.

Prof. Chongrak Polprasert and Prof. Athapol Noomhorm recently led staff, and students at the Bio Thailand 2005: Challenges in the 21st Century exhibition. The event was held from 2-5 Nov. 2005 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
