28 Donors Honored at Gathering Studded with Diplomats and Dignitaries

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was the first recipient of a specially crafted commemoration medal to honor significant contributors to the AIT Library Modernization Campaign. She was bestowed this honor on 27 April 2018 by Dr. Subin Pinkyana, Chairperson, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Board of Trustees at the inauguration of the modernized AIT Library.

Princess blesses the AIT Renaissance event by unveiling AIT Clock Tower and Gate
The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) was blessed with auspicious royal patronage when Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn formally inaugurated the modernized AIT library,  the AIT Clock Tower, and the new AIT Gate on 27 April 2018.

At a stellar function organized in the precincts of the AIT Library, Princess Sirindhorn inaugurated the new facilities, and by the press of a button digitally unveiled two new landmarks in realtime — the Clock Tower and the new Gate.

AIT student’s research selected as Elsevier Atlas article of the month

An article by AIT student Rajan Parajuli and Dr. Philippe Doneys has been selected by Elsevier as the Atlas article of the month. The article “Exploring the role of telemedicine in improving access to healthcare services by women and girls in rural Nepal” has been selected from thousands of recently published articles, to be selected for the Elsevier Atlas.

Dr Shobhakar Dhakal is Coordinating Lead Author for IPCC Sixth Assessment Report

Dr. Shobhakar Dhakal of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has been selected as the Coordinating Lead Author (CLA) for the Chapter on ‘Emission Trends and Drivers’  for the Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Seven-hundred and twenty-one experts from 90 countries will participate in as Coordinating Lead Authors, Lead Authors, and Review Editors.

Earth Data Analytics to be AIT focus in Digital Belt and Road (DBAR)

A focus on education and research in Earth Data Analytics will be the cornerstone of AITs’ participation in the recently inaugurated Digital Belt and Road International Center of Excellence (DBAR ICoE-Bangkok).

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is one of the four core partner institutions in the project which includes National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), and Ramkhamhaeng University Center of Regional Climate Change and Renewable Energy (RU-CORE). NRCT will serve as the administrative office.

27 companies participate in AIT Career Fair

Twenty-seven companies participated in the AIT Career Fair organized on 28 March 2018, with 11 of them participating for the first time. The bi-annual event, which was held at the AIT Conference Center, also saw the simultaneous holding of a student research exhibition.

Canada for enhanced cooperation with AIT

Canadian universities can look towards an increased academic and research collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), as the country enhances its engagement in the ASEAN region. Recent governmental initiatives, which include encouraging Canadian students to travel abroad, as well as a concerted focus on gender components in all programs can unlock numerous possibilities for collaboration between AIT and Canadian universities.

Bangabandhu Chair inaugurated at AIT

A Bangabandhu Chair on Sustainable Energy at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) was formally inaugurated on 15 March 2018 following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Bangladesh.

AIT is very popular in Viet Nam: Ambassador

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is “very popular” and “prestigious” in Viet Nam, and almost everyone knows about AIT. These were the remarks of the Ambassador of Viet Nam, H.E. Mr. Nguyen Hai Bang, during his maiden visit to AIT on 12 March 2018.

Ambassador Bang mentioned that since AIT had established an early presence in Viet Nam, it provided a link for Vietnamese students to pursue higher education in a foreign country.
