Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management Field of Study Coordinator
Dr. Yang Yi has been appointed as the new Coordinator of the Aquaculture and
Aquatic Resources Management (AARM) Field of Study for a period of two years,
effective 1 June 2005. His willingness to serve in this capacity is much
appreciated by all of AARM faculty and we wish him success in this endeavor.

Gender and Development Studies Field of Study Coordinator
Dr. Bernadette P. Resurreccion has been re-appointed as the new Coordinator of
Gender and Development Studies (GDS) Field of Study for a period of two years,
effective 16 June 2005. Her willingness to serve in this capacity is much
appreciated by all GDS faculty and we wish her success in this endeavor.

On 07 April 2005, a delegation from the Peking University Resource College (above) visited AIT. The delegation was led by Professor Cao Qing-Yang, President, Peking University Resource College. He was accompanied by 2 vice-presidents: Associate Professor Zhou Hong-Wei and Ms. Li Jun, together with Professor Zhou Nanzhao, advisor to the President.

Promotion

I am pleased to announce, effective from 1 May 2005, the promotion in academic rank of Dr Kyoko Kusakabe (right), SERD/Gender & Development Studies Field of Study from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor.

Dr Kusakabe has been a faculty member since 1999. Her major areas of specialization and research interests are in women in market economies; gender issues in trade; women and enterprise management/micro-vendors/informal sector; borderland studies, gender issues in organizations, social networks, gender and development policy and planning; and gender issues in aquaculture and fisheries.
