On Wednesday, March 24, a Japanese delegation visited AIT. The delegation includes Mr. Atsushi Ozu, First Secretary of Embassy of Japan and Mr. Yichiro Kimata, Assistant Resident Representative, JICA Thailand Office and a study team from Kokusai Kogyo (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

The School of Environment, Resources and Development cordially welcomes Dr. Nowarat Coowanitwong (right) as Assistant Professor in the Urban Environmental Management Field of Study , effective March 15, 2004.

Dr. Nowarat, a Thai national, graduated with a doctoral degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida, USA in 2003. Her main area of research interests include environmental technology and environmental impact assessment for decision-making towards sustainability.

TECO announces the 2004 Taiwan Scholarships

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) announces the 2004 Taiwan Scholarships under the following categories:

1. High Tech/ Full Fellowship Program

Applicants must be students of any of the following programs: Nano Science and Technology Program; Molecular and Biological Agricultural Sciences; Bioinformatics Program; Molecular Medicine Program; Chemical Biology and Molecular Biophysics Program; Molecular and Cell Biology Program; and Molecular Dynamics and Spectroscopy Program

The Fellowship recipient will receive NT$30,000 (US$850) monthly allowance.

On March 17, 2004, H. E. Mr. Rasoul Eslami, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Thailand and Permanent Representative to ESCAP, and a delegation from the Tehran University (TU) of Iran visited AIT.

The TU delegation was led by Dr. Reza Farajidana, President of Tehran University and comprised of Dr. Mohammad Rahimyan, Deputy for Research, Tehran University and Dr. Seyed Hossein Hosseini, Deputy for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies, TU. The delegation was accompanied by Mr. Siamak Azodolmolky, The Embassy's IT Education/Press Advisor, and was later joined by H.E. Mr.Rasoul Eslami, Ambassador of Iran.

The School of Advanced Technologies welcomes Dr. Jaakko Kurhila (right), Visiting Lecturer seconded by the Government of Finland in the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) from March to August 2004.

Dr. Kurhila obtained his Master of Science in Computer Science (1997), Licentiate of Philosophy (2000) and the Doctor of Philosophy (2003) in
Computer Science (Educational Technology) from the University of Helsinki, Finland.
